MSNBC, March 8, 2008.
Food Riots Beginning
"The food crisis not only is being felt among the poor, but also is eroding the gains of the working and middle classes, sowing volatile levels of discontent and putting new pressures on fragile governments.
International Herald Tribune, April 17, 2008.
Wheat Stockpiles Are Small
"The USDA updated their US and world wheat supply estimates this morning. As expected, the 2007/08 world wheat ending stock level was revised downward by 5.39 million metric tons due mostly to a reduction in the Australian wheat output forecast. In short, even tighter supplies are anticipated than estimated last month by the USDA. In fact, 2007/08 US ending stocks are now estimated to be their lowest since 1949."
USDA, October 17, 2007.
